The EU bans the export of horses to Russia.

The European Union has banned exports of luxury goods to Russia, including horses worth more than 300 euros.

On Tuesday 15 March, Council Regulation (EU) 2022/428 entered into force, with the restrictive measures finally adopted by the EU for certain luxury goods, prohibiting the sale, supply, transfer or export, directly or indirectly, of the luxury goods listed in Annex XVIII; which includes “horses” (purebred breeding stock and others) to any natural or legal person, entity or organisation in Russia or for use in Russia.

The prohibition referred to in paragraph 1 shall apply to items listed in Annex XVIII (see page 17) with a value exceeding EUR 300 per item.
