Martin Dockx with Malagueño LXXXIII, historic triumph in the CDIW Madrid Horse Week 2023

This weekend at Madrid Horse Week, the Olympic rider José Daniel Martin Dockx riding Malagueño LXXXIII, bred and owned by Francisco Santiago Ruiz, has signed a historic day for his career and the Pura Raza Española.

On Friday 24 November, the fourth qualifying round of the Western League of the World Cup started at Ifema. A total of 13 riders fought for top honours in the Grand Prix. The duo from Malaga closed the podium with a remarkable 72.522%, being the only PRE in the list of participants. 

The great joy of the weekend came yesterday, Saturday 25th November, with the musical test. Dockx and Malagueño LXXXIII shone in the capital. To the strains of Andalusian music, the pair impressed with their powerful trot extensions and a rhythmic passage and piaffe. With very complex combinations from maximum gathering to maximum extension and relaxation, the notes were rising steadily. Their new personal best and therefore golden score was 80.870%, breaking the famous 80% barrier.

At the press conference, Martín Dockx said that “it is an honour to come here with a PRE, and I am especially pleased to have gone down in the history of this important competition with three Pura Raza Española”. “Today in the Kür the horse made everything very easy for me, I know that we take a lot of risks and it is easier to make mistakes, but fortunately it was not like that. The PRE is a type of horse that generally connects very well with the public, this and many others that have come out of our borders”, concluded the rider.
